A New Leaf

Cultivating a Stronger Community

When A New Leaf provides people with developmental disabilities a place to live and learn horticultural skills, it gives them something more: increased independence and life choices.

The Tulsa-area nonprofit has been creating vocational opportunities for individuals through its greenhouses and retail centers since 1979 — with additional growth on the way.

Selser Schaefer Architects designed a 50-acre development to expand A New Leaf’s impact with new group housing, studio apartments and a dormitory organized in “agrihoods” around one-acre planting fields.

The campus’ recreational center/venue welcomes in the public, while A New Leaf clients venture outside the campus to gain work experience. It’s a two-way, symbiotic relationship that cultivates a stronger community.
