2018 Bond Package + New Junior High School & Athletic Center

Narrate was brought on early to help Perry Public Schools shape and communicate a $25 million 2018 bond package. Working closely with district leadership, educators, and community stakeholders, we helped define project priorities and build a shared vision for a unified, future-ready campus.

Through collaborative planning and compelling visuals, we equipped the district with tools to communicate that vision clearly and effectively to voters. The bond passed successfully in November 2018, and construction began the following year. Today, the new Junior High School and Athletic Center stand as milestones in Perry’s long-term plan to enhance student experience and bring all grade levels together on a single campus.

The New Junior High + Athletic Center

The new Junior High and Athletic Center facilitates student learning in addition to being a community resource.

The Junior High incorporates abundant daylighting, environmentally responsible design, and engaging learning environments with state-of-the-art technology including a media center and computer lab, science classrooms with teaching gardens, special education spaces, and Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) spaces. The learning environments extend beyond the school walls to include outdoor recreation, teaching, and social spaces.

The Maroon Athletic Center design is focused around a multi-purpose gymnasium with arena-style seating for 1,200. This new center will allow Perry to host large community events, basketball games, 4-mat wrestling meets, and tournaments with locker rooms for home and visitor teams as well as a training room. The gymnasium can also be reconfigured into multiple courts for basketball, volleyball, and gym classes. Smaller multi-use community space, kitchen, and concession area will be available to both the Junior High and Athletic Center.

WPA-Era Sign

The WPA (Work Projects Administration) was an American New Deal agency established in the 1930s to employ millions of job seekers in public works projects.

Thanks to a donation from a Perry resident, WPA-era materials abandoned on a local field were repurposed to create a sign honoring the historic initiative which greatly impacted the economic history of Perry, OK.
