A Place to Create, Learn, and Explore
Libraries have always been places of discovery. The Carnegie-Stout Maker Space expands that tradition by giving visitors a place to create, experiment, and learn through hands-on experiences.
Designed to support people of all ages, the Maker Space provides a flexible environment for everything from 3D printing and audiovisual production to jewelry making, sewing, and other creative pursuits. Whether participating in a guided workshop or exploring independently, users have access to tools, technology, and resources that encourage curiosity and innovation.
The design process brought together librarians, technology specialists, and community leaders to create an energetic, welcoming environment centered on making and learning. A bold glass enclosure showcases creative activity, allowing visitors to see ideas take shape in real time. Freestanding millwork extends beyond the glass walls, blurring the boundary between the Maker Space and the library beyond while creating a natural invitation to step inside, participate, and discover something new.
