STILLWATER — Already recognized this school year as a National Blue Ribbon School and home to the district teacher of the year, Westwood Elementary celebrated another accomplishment Wednesday with a groundbreaking for a new $26 million school.
Several students, staff, administrators and others donned construction helmets and scooped shovels-full of dirt as hundreds of spectators huddled around students sitting on McFarland Street during the ceremony.
Principal Darren Nelson said it is great to wrap up the school year by “kicking off the construction of the new Westwood Elementary.”
