The Osage Nation celebrated the opening of the new Pawhuska Wahzhazhe Early Learning Academy (WELA) building on November 25, 2024.
WELA is a comprehensive child development program designed to promote the individual growth and development of children ages six weeks to five years old. The new 18,752-square-foot building includes eight classrooms, outdoor creative spaces, a playground, a kitchen, a storm shelter, two indoor gross motor skills classrooms, a teacher trainer room, and office space for Wahzhazhe Early Learning Academy administration and staff.
Featuring a bright and cheerful design, Osage-inspired art and imagery, and meticulous attention to detail, WELA provides a welcoming and secure environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.
“On behalf of the Child Care and Development Services Department, we would like to thank [narrate] for your dedication and assistance with the building project of the new Pawhuska WELA. It has been quite a journey, but a worthwhile one for the teachers and students that will be enjoying the new facility. It is a beautiful building and provides an awesome environment for the students to learn and grow. We appreciate your collaboration, and the many days and hours poured into this project.”
