For more than 11 years, Selser Schaefer Architects has helped H-E-B bring its “Here Everything’s Better” experience to grocery shoppers across the country. Part of that“better” experience includes friendly, modern stores that incorporate many sustainable features. Created through close collaboration with Lake I Flato Architects and the owner, this neighborhood store’s design brings natural light to 100% of the sales floor and significantly reduces energy and water consumption. Heritage trees were saved with the creative use of paved areas. In addition, more than a third of the building materials featured recycled content or originated from within 500 miles.
