“Data shows that our passengers already love visiting destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean, such as Cancun and Cabo San Lucas, and once this facility is completed, it will allow an airline to offer nonstop service to those great destinations.”

Tulsa Airport International Customs Facility

Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust

Big changes are on the horizon at Tulsa International Airport (TUL): nonstop international flights will soon be a reality. At the heart of this transformation is a new International Customs Facility, a 45,000-square-foot addition that will welcome travelers arriving from abroad with efficiency and a strong sense of place.

Until now, TUL has only been able to clear small private, charter, and cargo flights through a limited U.S. Customs and Border Protection office. The new facility changes that. Equipped to handle large commercial aircraft, it will provide a seamless experience for passengers flying nonstop to top international destinations like Mexico and the Caribbean.

Narrate Design, in collaboration with aviation and mobility specialists Corgan, is leading the design of this game-changing project. The terminal will greet travelers with interiors inspired by Tulsa’s signature Art Deco and local landmarks—an introduction to the city that feels both welcoming and distinctly ours.

When not in use for international arrivals, the new gate will serve general aviation, keeping the facility active and beneficial on a daily basis. It has also been designed with the future in mind, allowing for expansion as international travel demand grows.

With a total project cost of $41 million, funded by the Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust and Federal Aviation Administration grants, the International Customs Facility represents more than an infrastructure upgrade. It’s a gateway, positioning Tulsa as a truly global destination.
