Interior Designer | Interior Architect
Narrate Design is seeking a full-time Interior Designer | Interior Architect with strong technical skills to lead the documentation, detailing, and execution of interior systems and components. The ideal candidate will combine design sensibility with deep technical knowledge to deliver innovative, buildable solutions for complex interior environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical Leadership: Lead the development of construction documents in Revit and AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy, coordination, and compliance with firm standards and client requirements.
- Documentation + Detailing: Prepare, review, and coordinate 2D and 3D drawings, finish plans, furniture plans, specifications, and technical details for all phases of design.
- Material + Product Research: Evaluate and specify interior finishes, systems, and furnishings appropriate for commercial environments; coordinate specifications with consultants and project teams.
- Code + Compliance: Conduct research on building codes, accessibility guidelines, and life safety requirements, integrating findings into design and documentation.
- Construction Administration: Support project teams during construction, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and performing site visits to verify design intent and technical accuracy.
- Collaboration: Work closely with architects, consultants, and clients to ensure technical solutions align with project goals, budget, and schedule.
- Client + Team Engagement: Contribute to presentations and effectively communicate design and technical information using both 2D and 3D materials.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, with the ability to manage complex drawing sets and technical coordination.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, materials, and detailing for interior environments.
- Ability to prepare and coordinate furniture plans and specifications.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with rendering software (e.g., Enscape, SketchUp) is a plus.
- Skilled in code research and application, including ADA and local jurisdiction requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and constructability.
- Effective communication skills for both technical and client-facing discussions.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, Bachelor/Master of Architect Degree or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- 7+ years’ experience.
- Architectural or Interior Design license or commitment to completing licensure process within the first year of employment.
